Solitaire Country Lodge

The tiny private town of Solitaire has provided a welcome stop-over for travellers for over 60 years and is situated between Sesriem and Walvis Bay. With the original Tsondab General Dealer, McGregor’s Bakery and Cafe van Der Lee, a thirsty traveler will find cold drinks, ice cream, baked goods, coffee and lunch. There is also the Solitaire Petrol Station and Tyre Repair providing essential services to those who need them.

Solitaire is a snapshot into the past and a much-needed oasis when crossing the vast stretches of the Namib. Made famous by Ton van der Lee’s best-selling book, Solitaire, it continues the tradition of hospitality and shelter, food and fun. At the centre of the 45,000 acre Solitaire Land Trust, the town supports habitat restoration efforts and protects free-roaming native wildlife, including oryx, kudu, Hartmann’s mountain zebra, springbok, brown hyena, cheetah and leopard.
